This traditional Savoyard farm has been renovated, transforming it into an idyllic place to stay for anyone looking to get away from it all in the mountains. It’s just 5 minutes from Abondance, a typical Alpine village known for its eponymous abbey and cheese. In addition to its cultural heritage, Abondance has plenty of restaurants and shops where you can sample local products. Geneva International Airport is 75 minutes away.

In winter, the Portes du Soleil ski area, with 400 miles of slopes in France and Switzerland, is just 15 minutes away by car. In Abondance, the ski resort of l’Essert is ideal for children and beginners and is just 5 minutes away by car. There are several cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails nearby. You can also explore the Nordic ski areas of Abondance Valley and Lac des Plagnes, where you can try cross-country skiing, dog sledding, ice driving and ice-skating on the village ice rink or on a frozen lake.

In summer, take your pick from a wide range of trails for hiking, trail running and mountain biking. Use Châtel’s ski lifts and marked mountain bike trails to visit other Portes du Soleil resorts. You can also play golf in Evian (30 minutes away by car) and Les Gets (1 hour away by car).

The Ferme d’Agathe is a cosy, comfortable place to stay. The entire property can be rented for up to 10 people.

It can also be divided up so that you can rent:
